Time to let you fly

The idea for this layout is not original - I lifted it from Vicki Boutin Scrapbooking & Beyond February 2007.
I was saving the magazine because I really like the concept of the large butterfly. I changed it to make it my own. The butterfly pattern is mine.
Khalila's senior year pictures. That's me and Khalila.

P.S. I e-mailed Vicki this post letting her know I used her idea. She was nice enough to reply:
"Gorgeous job!!!! So glad that my work inspired you to create this lovely page!!!! Thanks for the email!!! I tried to comment on your blog, but it wouldn't let me.
Have a good night!

Vicki"

Getting 2 Know you

My Friend Jennifer got to spend some time with Isabella.
Isabella was 4 1/2 months old. I love all of her expressions.
I used Pencil line Sketch #45

I'm really liking the "layered" look on pages. Just grab a silk flower and layer on it.

Tutorial for making the “Ribbon Star”

Supplies:
3 ribbons of different widths 9” long (Each) - Cut each at 3” sections
1 – cardstock circle 1 ½ inches
1 – cardstock circle 1 inch
Glue dots
Stapler
Large button

1. Fold the ribbon, both sides meeting – to form a point.
2. Staple to the larger circle
3. Continue stapling the remaining 4 ribbons the same way. This is the bottom
layer and it should start looking like a star.
4. Turn over and cut excess ribbon from the back to cut down on the bulk.
5. Repeat this process with the smallest of the ribbons on the 1" circle
except that this one you staple on top of the circle. Again, cut off excess
ribbon.
6. I used 5 glue dots (must be a strong adhesive) I placed the glue
inside of the larger circle. Position the medium ribbon point between
two larger points. Continue attaching the medium ribbon until all five
have been attached.
7. Glue dot in the back of the small circle and attach it to the large circle.
8. Glue the large button.

You can add flowers to this, small or large – you can add more ribbon. Play around with it and see what else you can come up with.

Journaling reads:

3 is the number of times you have come and gone since you've been in the Marines. Three times - not knowing when I would See you again. This time though it's been pretty hard. The uncertainty of it all. My son I am so proud of you! And the only thing I can do is pray for your safe return every single day. I miss you I love you. July 2007

5 Star Card Challenge

Here is the 5th day challenge for Caardvarks. I spent all day thinking it was a challenge with 5 stars. I even pulled the 5 stars and they sat on my table all day. The challenge is actually 5 Embellishments on the card. Glad I waited.

As usual I used Club Scrap Cardstock and ribbon. The pattern paper is doodle bug, ghost heart is Heidi Swapp, pattern paper under heart is basic grey, chip board, plastic flower and button are from Cocoa Daisy June's kit.

Bloom'in Beauty

This layout was inspired by Nathalia's Refresh l.o.

All supplies used are from Club Scrap Bistro kit except for the unmounted stamps which I got at the dollar section of Joanns. I distressed, sewed, sprayed with the glimmer mist and used the Big City Black Crystal. QK flowers sprayed them with water and crinkled and added scrapbook shimmer by MM. What a gorgeous kit!
