I Miss this. . .

I posted a challenge over at 2 Spotted Dogs (see here)
Here is my example. This one covers 2 challenges - Sewing and rub-ons.

Picture is Alexandria at the Smoky Mountains 2003
Journaling is tucked away in the little owl pocket that I made with left over scraps.
It reads:
I miss this . . .
I was going through some old pictures
and came across this one. It stopped
me right in my tracks.
I don’t even remember you looking like
that. You were ten years old. I miss
you at that age. I miss you living
with us. I miss hearing you chatter
about school, friends and horses. I
miss your obsession with movies and
clothes. Your spot at the dinner table
is empty most of the time. We
really miss you. It’s not just me
and your dad that miss you, Izzy
and Khalila miss you too.

The other day when we took you
out for dinner, I looked at the
Beautiful young lady sitting across
from me, and for a moment I wondered
how you had changed so quickly –
but all of sudden there you and
Izzy went laughing and carrying
on. Just like old times. O.K.
so I pretend to be embarrassed and
I tell you guys not knock it off,
but deep down inside I’m glad you
are still you and you guys still know
how to have fun and you still connect
like siblings. Journaling 2/08

Oh Happy Day!

I went to my friend, Jennifers house yesterday after work and scrapped. I hadn't seen her in awhile and we decided we are just going to have to get together more often (Heather sorry you couldn't make it - maybe next time!)
This is the l.o. I made while visiting.
I used the February 2 Spotted Dog Kit and some odd and ends on this l.o.
Thank you Jennifer for the buckle heart and the beads. They were the perfect touch on this layout.

She brings lots of sparkle into my life!
Handmade embellishment - I copied the accent on her shirt. I used The Two Spotted Dogs February Kit and Lace from The Embelishment Studio, lots of "Stickles" which is what she is playing with and odds and ends.

Love/Amor Card

Here is another card I made for MIM challenge. Take a look at MIM blog here
The sketch inspired me to create this card. The pattern and idea is all mine.
It's a card I folded accordian style and the circles rotate. I stamped LOVE one one side and AMOR on the other. All papers are from Club Scrap.

Keep Your Dream Alive

I realized that I thrive in challenges. MIM posted a sketch and this is my interpretation of that sketch.

Mini Quote Album - gift.

Mini Quote Album - a gift for someone who is at a crossroads in life and needs to make some decisions about the future.
This is a paper mache circle container I've had for a very long time. All supplies used I've had in my stash for a long time. All paper is Club Scrap. Punched out large circles and attached them together with ribbon.

Happy Mail!

If you've ever ordered anything on via the internet you know what happy mail is - but when you did not order or pay for anything and you get a little box full of fun "stuff" then it's REALLY happy mail and when that "fun stuff" is hand made WOWZERS!!! Elizabeth W. from My Inner Martha (here) Had what she called a Bloggy Carnival Giveaway, and guess who won?! Yeah I did!!!
Thank You Elizabeth! Go check out her blog, she posts challenges and gives gifts away - she also has an Etsy shop. I can tell you her hand made items a top quality.
Oh yeah she announced that I won this on Monday, I sent her my snail mail on tuesday and I received the package on thursday! Talk about quick.

Lets see, I recieved a little tin album - in my favorite colors! How did you know I love Teal? In there was also 2 sets of hand made cards - just beautiful! I love the colors of those too! Hand made flower magnets - OMG cannot wait to use those. Hmm, maybe 2 for the fridge and 2 for my scrap room. My cork board will be dressing up with the handmade gem tacks, a lovely red journal with red bling and flowers! And last but not least a coaster mini album covered in beautiful paper, with a silk flower and button! I promise to fill those two mini albums up right away! One is going in my purse for sure.
It was a little box "packed" with fun! And Elizabeth, Isabella helped me open the box, she grabbed the bubble wrap and ran off with it yelling in glee everytime she popped a bubble! So for my happy box and for 10 minutes of Isabella's happiness I thank you!

You're a Hoot!

I'm hosting a challenge over at 2 Spotted Dogs called paper piecing. This is an "out there" example of paper piecing. Paper piecing is usually a bit more subdued but I wanted this l.o. to be silly. To express the energy and excitement that surround Isabella. That child storms a room in 2 seconds flat - then charms everyone with hugs and kisses.
You're a hoot is about How exciting it is for me to watch her grow and how much she makes us laugh.
I've layered buttons and attached beads to the layered buttons.
I hand drew and cut out the owl.

Queen of my Heart - Take 2

I loved that tag so much decided I needed another for a l.o.
and who else would be queen of my heart except for Ms. Isabella.
The paper is from the February Kit of club Scrap. Cardstock was plain I just stamped a bunch of different stamps trying to grunge it up a bit. Sewed some beads on there also.

Queen of my Heart

When I want to create and I feel stuck what do I do? I lift. I went to Tim Holtz's amazing site see here:Tim Holtz
Where he freely shares his techniques. I know the point is to use his stuff but I haven't gotten my hands on any grungeboard or the distress crackle paint,so I improvised. I recieved the January kit from The Embellishment Studio
and it included these cute little winged heart chipboard (one piece) I hand drew and cut the crown and I used gold UTEE,acrylic paint and crackle medium, lots of stamps from Club Scrap and others, Marah Johnson paper.
Entering this one to Caardvarks

This card will be reappearing in a l.o.
I also made a pink one will share that one later when I finish it.

Sweetheart Card

This card will be submitted for 2 challenges. One is Caardvarks(see here) XOXO Love Fest Valentines and secondly My Inner Martha (see here). Go check them out if you're up to a challenge and for lots of eye candy too.

The card was inspired by Lauren, see All the Good blog names were taken, whom I happen to cyber stalk. Take a look at her awesome blog. Her creativity/art is amazing! I love going to her blog for insipration.

The card is for a little girl whom I'm sure will love all of the glitter on it.

The card is a 3 layer card plus 2 hanging embellishments.

The cardstock is from Club Scrap, the buttons from the paper Studio, the stamps are from Club Scrap, Autumn Leaves and Rita Marie. the Pink stickles and the lace I picked up at The Embelishment Studio.

To be loved is to Live Forever in someone's Heart

This was inspired by another challenge from "My Inner Martha"
The challenge:
LACE!
"I don't know about you, but I have gobs of lace. I just got a giant box of it from Freecycle. It is challenging for me to use, though, so I shy away from it. Not this week!! Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to use lace on a card, layout, or project. Be creative!! It doesn't have to be the typical ruffly girly lace... And yes, I'm sure with a little creativity you can even figure out how to use it on a boy page.
"

I choose to accept. I've been distressing, sewing and doing lots of painting today.

This was the original

I made this Collage/frame for my mom. Those (really bad) pictures are of her parents. I know she misses them, so I made her this little gift.
The pink and cream lace are from The Embelishment Studio, the 3 pink flowers belonged to my grandmother, the cherub my mom gave me several of those. The beads and sequence are from my wedding dress, vintage white buttons, prima flowers, the cross I picked up at Michaels. The Quote and the cards stock is from Club Scrap.

I made a similar embelishment and I really liked it but it went in my scrapbook and stored away in a bookcase. I thought why not make one to display.
<

I Love you today & Forever Card

Another Challenge from "My Inner Martha"
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to take an item from your stash that you can't find a use for and alter it for a card.

I chose to accept it and this is what I came up with. I used the leftovers of a HS chipboard and an old tag. Lots of distressing, inking and layering.

This is the end result. The paper are scraps from my 2 Spotted Dogs January Kit

Altered Notebook

I'm supposed to be at a scrapbooking retreat this weekend but there is a snow storm so instead I'm home - scrapbooking.

I altered this notebook for Izzy. He loves golf and is on the "golf team." That's why I used that paper. I used those large brads on front and back covers to hold the notebook closed with a rubberband. I did alot of distressting and altering.
